How to get here

Whether you arrive by car, train, plane or ship, the Mecklenburg Lake District is easily accessible by any form of transport. Maybe you’ll decide on a cycling holiday? Three long-distance cycleways cross our region.

By car
As a car driver it is quick and easy to get to our region. Motorways A 19, A 20 and A 24 give easy access to the whole area of the Mecklenburg Lake District and thus facilitate an unproblematic arrival from the directions of Hamburg, Berlin, Rostock and Ruegen.

By rail
Rail travellers can use the following through connections to the Mecklenburg lakes:
Berlin - Rostock (Interconnex) or Stralsund (Intercity)
Leipzig - Rostock (Intercity)
Hamburg - Berlin (Intercity)
Hamburg - Schwerin - Rostock - Stralsund (Intercity)
From the major railway stations there are, in addition, many local railway services to destinations throughout the holiday region.

By air
You can travel to the Mecklenburg Lake District by air, using many European airports with flights to Hamburg, Berlin, Luebeck or Rostock-Laage and then continue your journey by bus, train or hire the car of your choice. Further information concerning individual airports can be obtained under:

Ferry terminal Sassnitz on Ruegen:
