Mueritz Sail
Every year in May this small but choice event transforms Germany’s biggest lake into a Mecca for sports enthusiasts and fans of lakeland festivities. The programme includes a variety of events: regattas, dragon-boat races, water-ski shows and a boat parade and offers even landlubbers something for every taste.
Schwerin Castle Festival – “The Force of Destiny”, June – August
In 2010 the Schwerin Castle Festival will once again be a cultural highlight in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Mecklenburg State Theatre in Schwerin will present Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “The Force of Destiny” open-air against the breathtaking backdrop of Schwerin’s fairy-tale Castle.

Kunst: Offen – Mecklenburg artists open their studios and workshops, Whitsun
Over the Whitsun weekend, artists throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern open up their studios and workshops so that the public can see them at work in their various crafts. Visitors cannot only see the production of art works close up but can talk to the artists in their studios and workshops.
A little festival in a big park – Ludwigslust, in August
Funny-men, acrobats, mime artist and music-makers from various nations populate the numerous stages in the Castle Park and create a dream spectacle. This varied and entertaining programme of the small-scale performing arts ends with a magnificent firework display before the backdrop of Ludwigslust Castle.
MITTSOMMER Remise – Night of the Nordic Manors and Mansion-Houses, 19 June 2010
The Night of the Nordic Manors and Mansion-Houses celebrates the longest day in the year right royally. Manor houses and mansion houses open their doors and transport you into their regional cultural heritage to the accompaniment of a varied programme of musical performances, readings, guided tours, exhibitions and lectures, all against the wonderful backdrop of great houses.
Fritz Reuter Bicentenary
In 2010 the bicentenary of the birth of Fritz Reuter, Mecklenburg’s most important writer in the Low-German language, will be celebrated in worthy fashion. Numerous events, exhibitions and conferences under the title “Reuter 200” will draw attention to the literary significance of his work and provide an appropriate framework for the bicentenary celebrations.
Mueritz Fish Festival
An incredible variety and a delight for the taste buds – today the Mueritz Fish Festival is a culinary event in which more than sixty partners participate. Enjoy regional and traditional versions of recipes for freshly caught fish and make the most of the many opportunities to attend cookery demonstrations or events connected with fishing, including excursions in fishing boats.
The Opening Concert of the Mecklenburg Music Festival in the Neubrandenburg Concert-Hall Church

The opening concert of the 2010 Festival will take place in one of the most impressive concert halls in Germany, with excellent sound quality: the Concert-Hall Church in Neubrandenburg.
