Neubrandenburg
The Town of Four Gates, Neubrandenburg, is the cultural centre in the east of the Mecklenburg-Lake District. The mediaeval ring of fortifications around the town, with its picturesque gates and guardhouses, has been preserved almost intact and has become the unofficial symbol of Neubrandenburg. However, it is just the beginning of a wonderful journey of discovery, which offers you a great variety of high-quality opportunities to experience and enjoy art, history, culture and nature, all within a small compass. The 750-year-old town exudes a very special charm, combing the old and the new in urban development.
Enjoy the musical performances in the Concert-Hall Church, visit the Neubrandenburg Art Collection with its 5,000 works of art (painting, sculpture, graphic arts), enjoy a relaxing day on idyllically situated Lake Tollensesee on the outskirts of the town or go to the Autumn Festival of Culture around the shores of the Lake Tollensesee. This festival which is held annually in September is just one of the many musical, cultural and sporting events organized by the town, non-profit associations and others.
No matter what particular choices you make, take time out to discover Neubrandenburg with its many attractions and leisure opportunities.
